Google made quite a big point out of Project Volta which was supposed to add 90 minutes of battery life but Shen Ye begs to differ.
That doesn’t look like successful use of project Volta to me. That’s some of the worst battery drain I’ve seen on a phone, 100% to 3% in just over two hours. There must be some serious issues in the code currently since 70% of the drain went to miscellaneous. You can follow the issue here.
Android Engineering is aware of an issue affecting Nexus 5 users running Android 5.0 which causes significant “Miscellaneous” battery usage while WiFi is enabled. This appears to be caused by an abnormally high number of IRQ wakeup events. We are continuing to investigate this issue.
Hopefully Google can iron this one out quickly before the expected OTA rollout day which is November 12th
