HTC USA just released a tweet a few minutes ago pertaining to the release of KitKat on the HTC One GPe. The OEM stated they have pushed the update to Google. They stated the update will be pushed out in a timeframe decided by Google Play.
Many people didn’t believe HTC would be able to deliver on Jason MacKenzie’s promise of 4.4 arriving to the GPe in 15 days. While this doesn’t necessarily mean the OTA will be occurring today, HTC’s end of the bargain has been met. It’s now up to Google to push the update to devices.
The remainder of the time frame for KitKat updates President MacKenzie stated is as follows:
15 more days until the release of the Developer Edition
30 more days for carrier branded variants
Whether or not these will be met is still speculation. Seeing as they delivered on the GPe, my money’s on seeing them deliver yet again. If you receive the OTA, as always, please let us know. This post will be updated when OTAs begin hitting users.
