Last week the Google dev team revamped notifications in the Google+ app for android. The notifications were separated from the main menu and given a prominent spot at the top of the app. Instead of sharing a somewhat cluttered area they float in from the right side of the screen giving the app a feeling similar to the web app.
Now thanks to developer Francois Beaufort we may be getting a look at Google’s newest attempt to unify messaging and notifications. Beaufort has clued us in on what the new Chrome OS notification center could look like.
As you can see in the notification panel on the right hand side Google seems to, literally, be placing all its eggs in one basket. Notifications can be seen for missed calls, possibly from Google Voice. Circle notifications from Google+ as well as messages that could be from either G-Talk or Google+ messenger. Given that there is also a new icon in the dock that features four chat bubbles a unified place to get at all your messages may be imminent. Here’s hoping that Google gets the ball rolling on this project and simplifies our lives.
