So far everyone I know who has an HTC One is more than happy with the new lighter Sense 5. We are also a little bit away from getting anything AOSP based to flash, so no Cyanogen Mod, no AOKP or Paranoid Android. You can if you want install a third party launcher and choose to use that over Sense, but it still leaves a lot of Sense bloat-ware in your app drawer.
If you have owned another HTC Android device previously and entered the world of custom ROM’s you will no doubt have seen ROM’s listed as being de-Sensed. A de-Sensed ROM still uses the same stock software base as a Sense ROM, only it gives you a striped down version without the Sense launcher and many of the HTC included apps.
Over at XDA, recognised developer Patrics83 has put together a ROM Cleaner script to ‘De-Sense’ your ROM as long as you are rooted and have a custom recovery installed. ROM Cleaner should work with Stock ROM’s and all current custom ROM’s on XDA. The beauty of De-Sensing a Sense ROM is that HTC services, widgets and applications will all still work, so you can still shoot those wonderful Zoe’s.
The script is run through Aroma installer and can be downloaded from the XDA thread with full instructions.
