A new statue put up by Google!!! It’s Android and a new version!!! Not quite, no. With Google I/O coming very soon maybe this is a little hint.
What you see above is an Android statue on the Google campus. The Android Community Manager Paul Wilcox, posted a photo of the new chrome sculpture earlier this morning, also making sure to note, that it’s been installed at Building 45 on the Google campus, opposite the grass lawn placement where we normally see statues from the Big G. It’s BugDroid!
Rumours and speculation are already going round the houses. As I mentioned it’s an Android new version release that normally see’s a new statue erected. Fuelling the very rumours and speculation that this is a sign of Android and Chrome merging in some way itself. Although, Paul Wilcox was quick to comment that such rumours were not true, stating that he wasn’t trying to hint anything larger or as significant as these rumours.
“To be clear, this post is a little tongue-in-cheek and is not meant to be a sneaky announcement of a new version of Android,” he wrote. “It is, however, an announcement of a new statue.”
Do we believe them? Do we want to believe them? Of course not.
Many are already wishing that the merge of Chrome and Android will come. With this being a hint of course that we’ll see Android apps in some kind of native runtime through the Chrome browser. It would be awesome and it would bring, Chromebooks, into a much better position with a native and well run Android app option, certainly an added selling point too. Of course, it’s all rumours, and just a statue, but, we all like to speculate wildly now don’t we.
