How would you like to build your own ROM? Or do you have an idea for a theme for your device but have never been sure how to go about it? Well XDA have launched their XDA University website, aimed at getting you started on the path to becoming a ROM or Theme developer.
XDA have added a ton of useful content to the site aimed at users from the newbies to the top developers and interests that spread over the whole spectrum of the XDA Forum site. For general users looking to tweak their Android devices, t they’ve provided a handy Android dictionary, so you can understand everything discussed on the forum. They also have a list of guides compiled for flashing ROM s on your device, creating new themes and even a guide on basic ROM tweaking. We really appreciate all the effort that the team put into getting all this information in one easy place, as searching through the forum search function was never any fun.
If you’re more interested in getting involved in development, then there’s page after page of content for you too. XDA aren’t going to hold your hand through the ins and outs of programming, there are guides on all manner of important things from A to Z, just to get you used to working with Android. Guides on the Git control system, to setting up custom Kernels.
Text guides are there to help you of course but, they even thought of some extremely helpful video tutorials on app development, hardware hacking, and a beginners guide to Linux mobile development. They also provide some other links to external websites if you really want to get a grip on programming but don’t have any previous experience.
XDA will be adding extra content as time goes on and also have plans to put up a PDF of the entire website’s content at some point in the future as well.
