The new kid on the block so to speak and making strong ground in the world of custom ROMs. The Android Open Kang Project or AOKP as it’s known for short, has become very popular indeed. The builds of the open source Android 4.0 have become widespread across various devices now and nothing seems to stop the popularity. The upcoming build 30 has now been given a preview along with the yet to be released Nova Launcher next update. Team member Zaphod Beeblebrox has compiled and posted a video preview of a new feature that’ll add even more to the already great custom ROM and Nova Launcher running with it.
The new feature in AOKP build 30 is one that has seen a few mods already and that is a customizable navigation bar, but this is going some steps further here.
Here’s what Rootzwiki had to say:
The possibilities that come with this type of modification are pretty much limitless. From the video, it appears that the new Navigation Bar customization options include:
- Selection of number of Navigation Bar buttons (up to 5)
- Ability to assign applications and actions to each button
- Separate long press actions for each button
- Ability to select icons for each button
- Ability to integrate Nova Launcher actions (for those of you running Nova Launcher)
Now you have to see it now don’t you to get the real picture of what you could be getting. So let’s check this out below.
Now devices without virtual buttons enabled will not be able to utilize this feature of course and generally it’s just the Galaxy Nexus club or tablets. Apparently Build 30 should be available within a week or two now, want to try out AOKP now with build 29? – Well you can check out their team AOKP page at RootzWiki and see if you’re device is supported if it is a non Galaxy Nexus device.
