Outraged developer community may have just won with Verizon after they complained to Verizon that their device had a locked bootloader. A email from Verizon customer support states that there will be an OTA update ‘soon’ that will unlock the bootloader soon.
” My name is Levar and thank you for contacting Verizon Wireless about the boot loader for the Galaxy S3. I know this may be frustrating but there will be a solution soon coming. Samsung will be releasing a software update to unlock your device. Right now, we do not have a date for the release but it shall be soon.

Of course these things can always get changed and ‘soon’ is never a good word as it isn’t a definite time and can mean whenever really. This is good news though seeing Verizon and Samsung trying to help out the developer community.
