For those of you who don’t know what TxVia is, it is a payments technology company, that is known for their work with gift cards and pre-paid cards. This is a huge acquisition for Google, because of Google Wallet.
“Today, we’re thrilled to announce that we’ve acquired payments technology company TxVia to complement our payments capabilities and accelerate innovation towards our full Google Wallet vision. TxVia is a technology pioneer that offers a fast, flexible and highly reliable payments platform–which we believe is one of the best in the world.”
Google Wallet isn’t nearly as big as some hoped it to be, majorly because of two reasons. One reason is the Google’s lack of providing more places to use it and it’s not really in many stores yet, and the other reason is OEM’s not really putting NFC into many of their devices.
Well hopefully know that Google acquired TxVia they are moving Google Wallet into the right direction and will start to expand it more, and make it a more desirable feature. I will admit it would be so awesome to pay by just swiping your phone. Google also has to work out some security bugs to make this an even better feature to have. It’s going to be exciting to see how Google takes advantage of the skills, and resources that TxVia offers.
