There are mods and themed apps all over the place if you look hard enough of course, but sometimes you just can’t be bothered or a little gem gets spotted by someone else. Well here is one I found that us here at Land of Droid would like to pass on that very gem you may of been looking for.
This is the MMS.apk themed for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus. Before you we start, you do have to be rooted and have system access.
As you can see from the above image you have different options in colour. You have different options to in having the coloured text with the incoming message or having the original white text colour.
You can have Red, green, blue, orange, purple, pink options and some have that white text option and a few don’t. They also have emoji options, but no MMS compression at the moment and if that is an issue don’t moan after you do this.
It should work on Stock ICS/JB/AOKP/CM9 and as long as it’s a deodexed rom you should be okay from 4.0 and onwards. But remember do this at your own risk.
Instructions:
- Using a file explorer with root permissions like Root Explorer or Es File Explorer navigate to system/app/
- Rename your Mms.apk to mms.apk.bak
- Make sure you have R/W access and copy the downloaded Mms.apk, then paste into the system/app folder we was in before.
- Reboot and enjoy your new Mms themed as you like.
Removal:
Simply delete the mms.apk from the system/app folder and rename the original bak to mms.apk from mms.apk.bak we changed it to before.
I went for the blue to tie in with the “Holo” theme of ICS/JB and here is a screenshot below. I rather like it.
