There are a variety of smartphones on the market that vary in processor speed, design, and software. The one most important thing they differ in is screen size. Everyone knows what screen size is the best for them and they don’t like anything smaller or bigger. There are phones like the iPhone with a 3.5 inch screen, then there are phones like the Galaxy Note with a massive 5.3 inch phone. Everyone has their own opinion and Strategy Analytics, did a poll and found out 4 to 4.5 inches was the ideal handset size.
90% of phones users when giving a prototype of a phone with a bigger screen said they would much rather use the phone with the bigger screen than the one they are using right now. It was also shown that men like bigger devices than woman do.
What does this mean for the smartphone world? Does this mean devices are going to keep getting bigger, or have they hit their max screen size and now companies will focus on other things. In my opinion, companies are going to keep pushing the envelopes, and aren’t going to stop until the customers say enough is enough. The 5.3” Galaxy Note sells really well in America and over the pond, so big size is not an issue for many. I wouldn’t be surprised to see more phablets in the future, maybe even reaching 5.5” or higher.
On twitter not too long ago our followers said 4.3 inches was the sweet spot although some disagreed and said they want to go as big as possible without actually using a tablet. This goes to show it’s all about personal preference and how you will be using your phones.
