When it come to file managers there are quite an abundance of them in Google Play Store, but every now and then one comes along that just meets all your needs. Solid Explorer is just that.
Solid Explorer has a 14 day trial version and if, after that time you want to keep it (I have no doubt you will) you will have to pay a nominal fee of £1.26 which gives to access to the widgets. The developer Glodos has done a great job since the initial Beta release back in early March which I’ve been using.. Running on version 1.4.1a following two quick updates 1.4.1 (18 Dec) file sharing working again, fixed crashes when selecting ringtones, fixed crashes in search activity, and the following day with 1.4.1a (19 Dec) fully working root access(sorry for too frequent updates.
Solid Explorer is a file manager with two independent panels which brings to you a new file browsing experience. This is the most attractive, eye catching and intuitive file manager for the Android.
1. Two independent panels for browsing
2. Drag and Drop inside and between panels
3. FTP, SFTP and SMB/CIFS clients
4. File sharing via FTP
5. Support for ZIP, TAR.GZ, TAR.BZ2 and RAR archives
6. Creating ZIP and TAR archives
7. Dropbox, Box, SkyDrive, Google Drive (more soon)
9. Root access
10. Indexed search
11. Detailed file and directory information
The beauty of this file manager is the UI which is clean and simple to use. Changing the path of the directory is easy, tapping on the Jump>>Device give you System root, Internal memory and SD card etc. Which when on a dual pane (Landscape mode) makes it easy to move, copy delete and many more. FTP access is also available and works really well since the latest update. The two pane view is the greatest for easy file management on my tablet (Xoom). It also works great on my phones (SGS2, One S).
Definitely deserves a 5/5
