Yes folks you heard right! Samsung are finally going to start producing flexible displays – but wait a minute, they aren’t actually flexible? If rumour is right – which admittedly have been speculating for a few months now – Samsung are planning for production to start some time around September and will be the first to introduce a gadget with a Youm Display. Technically the screen isn’t actually going to be flexible – confused? Me too! Let me explain….
The upcoming gadget will have an inflexible glass on top of the Youm display to ensure the device’s sturdiness and reliability will be the highest possible standard. The screen will move as in the Youm Panel will be able to bend – just won’t be 100% flexible. Bit disappointing that they aren’t going all out with this amazing concept but hey it’s a start.
We don’t know what gadget the Youm screen will hit first but this is still pretty exciting and the extra news is that there will be a new competitor for thinest gadget once again as the Youm Panel/screen is said to only be a mere 0.6mm in thickness. So although the gadget isn’t anywhere near as flexible as claims have made it sound, it is still a step in the right direction in this ever evolving gadget world of ours.
I hope they don’t make a new “thinnest device” and instead use the extra space to pack in more flash storage, ram, and battery space.
