Rumour has it that Google are planning to release their very own tablet in Q2 this year. Following the success of the Kindle Fire in the USA, Google are looking to compete with Amazon with their very own 7 inch tablet. This would make it somewhat of a ‘Nexus’ device, like the Samsung Galaxy Nexus and the Nexus S.
The tablet is supposedly going to launch sometime in March or April this year, and will run Android Ice Cream Sandwich. Most interesting is the price: the device is apparently going to cost under $200.
To further enhance the rumour, Google’s CEO, Eric Schmidt, recently mentioned that Google would like to launch a high quality tablet with in next few months.
This device will definitely be an attempt to take on the Amazon Kindle Fire and other budget Android devices, rather than more expensive fruit devices.
What would be interesting is who makes the device for Google. Two of the three Nexus devices have been made by Samsung and one has been made by HTC. But with the Motorola Xoom, which was the first device to get Honeycomb, and with Google purchasing Motorola, my money is on Motorola.
