[Review] KIDIGI Car Mount Cradle for Samsung Galaxy Nexus

Window Mount

When it comes to Car Mount Cradles for the Samsung Galaxy Nexus there is no shortage of them on the market however seeing as Samsung found it a good idea to discontinue their official Car Mount Cradle before it even launched it was time to look elsewhere. Firstly for a POGO device (which didn’t exist) and then latterly any device that would charge my handset whilst mounted in the car.

OVERVIEW

Firstly I want to thank MobileFun.co.uk for supplying me with a solution to this problem. The product I decided on in the end was the KIDIGI Car Mount Cradle.

A product that covers what I needed it to do and hassle free installation in the car too.

FEATURES

  • Sturdy plastic construction with suction cup mechanism
  • 360° rotation allows you to position your tablet at the optimum angle
  • Integrated car charger keeps your Handset fully charged while you drive

ANALYSIS

To say I was pleasantly surprised with the quality of the plastics used and moulding of that very same plastic would be a bit of an understatement. The Galaxy Nexus fits snugly inside the mount itself which makes it very easy for mounting and un-mounting the handset quickly.

Thought the product specifies a 360° rotation I have to say that I found the mechanism for rotation a little tight and difficult to manoeuvre however with that being said, through time and constant movement it did slacken off and is now full 360° operational.

In terms of how it compares to other mounts, my car has a generic window mount which my wife uses and it’s a good bit lighter than the KIDIGI product however the suction mount on that product is no where near as strong and it goes to show that the company have placed a lot of care and attention into gravity of the car mount.

IN THE BOX

  • Car Mount Cradle (USB Cable Attached)
  • 9v USB Car Charging Adapter

Charge Port

CONCLUSION

When it comes to providing a much needed solution for in car charging whilst having your phone mounted then this is absolutely perfect. The coiled cable also allows for positioning of the product in pretty much any location on the windscreen.

Not having POGO initially put me off however I am now glad I didn’t hold out to get that product as it would have worked just as well as the KIDIGI product I had.

  • POGO is so fail at this point.  Over 6 months since the release and I can’t think of anything off the top of my head that actually uses it.
