[Quick App Review] Smart Stay

As a follow up to an earlier post I decided to download this app and give it a try. We all know that its annoying when you’re trying to read an article or play a game on your phone and the screen times out. This app solves the problem.

Well what can I say? The app does what it says on the box. Providing you have a front facing camera the screen stays on as long as you are looking at the screen and times out if your not. There is a pretty cool feature that double checks just incase it didn’t recognise your face as being there first time round (paid version only). As we see in the images there is an icon in the left corner of the screen when the app is running. The eye opens if it detects a face and closes if it doesn’t.

There are two versions of the app a paid and a lite version. There is little difference between the two besides a few features. On the paid version you get the double check feature, the ability to select which apps you don’t want this to run on and also a low light detection so the app still operates if your in a darker area. It only costs £0.62 to get the paid version so for the extra little features it is worth it. Definitely a worth while nifty app if you have the problem of screen time outs.

Our Rating 5/5:

Whats the battery drain like? Ive got a SGS3 but im curious at apps that can recreate the touchwiz features like pop out video/smart-stay as im considering switching to a CM9/10 ROM base or a MIUI and none of these will include the SGS3 system apps AFAIK

Very minimal on my S2. Don’t even notice the difference. The app shuts off when the phone is idle.
