Site Update:

Plume Beta 4.0 Now Available: Brings Added Facebook Support, Instagram Previews And More. Help Them Make It Better And Not Beta!

LevelUp Studio are the developers behind the very popular Android twitter client Plume, they also have an avenue they call the “LevelUp Beta Studio”. Now they release regular beta’s for us the users to test and report back before the stable builds hit the Google Play Store (Android Market). With added features, performance improvements, fixes and more tested first by us the users. It’s a very good scheme that many a developer house could benefit from.

Now, the new Plume Beta 4.0 brings something new and wanted by many for a long time in Plume, yes it’s Facebook support, yay for multi social network support in a client many love. Well, it’s not just brought that along in the new Beta but it’s also a whole lot more that you can see below in the change-log.

  • add Facebook support
  • add support for multiple accounts sending
  • add support for regional trends
  • add Instagram pictures preview
  • bring back the jump to top menu action
  • allow adding/removing users from your lists
  • allow deleting a saved search by long clicking on it
  • make the ‘x new tweets’ item clickable to refresh the list
  • fix the DM reply from the widget on Android 3.0+
  • disable the airplane mode check as some abuse it and enable wifi anyway

As you can see it brings a lot more fixes, improvments and more. Now these are tested, logged and reported back to work on by the developers at LevelUp Studio, hopefully in a not so far distant future we will see a stable build hit the Google Play Store. Obviously Facebook support now turns this once popular Twitter client, into a very popular Social client. Instagram picture viewing is something I am welcoming, the jump to top menu action, and a fair few items on that list there. LevelUp Studio really do listen to their users and you can help too.

To grab the beta and see the newest features, improvements and more, you can of course simply register at the LevelUp Beta Studio and grab the latest builds apk from the Plume Beta Forum. Now remember to get the apk you must be registered and signed in to see it available.

It is recommened to do the following instructions to try and ensure the best results.

When you install our beta builds you need to uninstall the version from the market you have on your device. Before doing that make sure you go to Settings > Import/Export > Export Settings so when you install the beta it can find all your accounts and settings.

As well as if you have used a beta build before, it is recommended to uninstall and do the same process as the instructions above. Now as well as using the beta build and to get it out and improved as much as possible, remember we can all help of course too here on LevelUp Studio’s beta program. Simply follow the instructions provided here – Beta Log collecting – And then you can help make Plume the best it can be. You can also submit ideas, features requests and more here –  How we can improve Plume? – where again LevelUp Studio will be listening to us and you of course the user(s) that we are.

Here are a few screen-shots I grabbed quickly just now above and as you can see it is very nice indeed. If you have used Plume before then you will know it’s great feature set and abilities as a Twitter client, well, now you can see it first before it’s released too, as it takes it’s first step in becoming a more of a Social client. Remember that this is a beta and use at your own risk and also remember it most probably won’t be bug free, so don’t moan and whine that it’s not doing this well, it’s not working, it’s blah blah blah, it’s a beta and start helping rather then yelping.

Support the developers and they will support you
