Kyocera are hoping to make the traditional speaker earpiece obsolete, using bone conduction technology originally developed for smartphone users with hearing difficulties.
At CTIA they were showing off a handset that uses a display that vibrates at the same frequencies a normal speaker would. This in turn vibrates your bones and facial tissue which makes it significantly easier to hear in a noisy environment.
Apparently it works so well that Kyocera are planning to implement the technology in future devices, but as yet there is no word when that might be.
