As an owner of the very popular Galaxy S2, I was amongst the disappointed when it became under debate as to whether this particular phone was likely to receive the Jelly Bean 4.1 upgrade. This was due to the limited capabilities of the phone in relation to the requirements of the newest software.
However there is hope thanks to the CyanogenMod10 (CM10) team over at XDA developers. The ROM is currently still in the very early development stage, therefore there are a few bugs:
XDA Recognized Developer XpLoDWilD posted this disclaimer:
This is a PREVIEW : CyanogenMod 10 is nowhere near ready to be used as a daily driver (lots of features still have to be merged), and same is the device support. CHECK THE KNOWN ISSUES LIST BEFORE THINKING ABOUT POSTING.
Those known issues are as follows:
- FMradio, heh!
- Camera is unstable, though taking pics should work
- Wi-Fi tethering is semi-broken
Although there are issues with the ROM many of the users using it believe that the S2 is fully capable of running Jelly Bean which is even more great news for a community that was likely never going to see an official release.
