When Amazon launched its Appstore in the UK back in September for Android smartphone and tablet apps it was a 14 MB app, now it’s grown to 26 MB and not all smartphones will have the capacity to install it. If you have the room we’ll show you how to download and install it.
Amazon have made slight changes to downloading the app, all for the better I might add. The Amazon Appstore isn’t simply on the Google Play Store since it is a rival app store itself. Below is a step by step guide on how get it.
The Appstore features personalised recommendations, customer reviews and ‘1-Click’ payments. There will also be a “Free App of the Day”.
To start with you will need to make sure your Android smartphone or tablet will allow installation of non-market applications. To do this navigate to the security section of the settings menu and tick ‘Unknown sources’.
Head to Amazon and enter your email address or mobile phone number. Amazon will then send you a message with a link to download the Appstore. Alternatively you can enter www.amazon.co.uk/appstore-web into your device’s browser. A download will automatically begin after you click the link.
Once the download is complete, click the notification in the notifications bar to install the Amazon Appstore.
Now the Amazon Appstore is installed you can sign in with your Amazon account to start browsing and downloading apps.
