Shine Runner is one of the pre-installed games that came on the Asus Transformer Prime to show off the power of Tegra 3, and it is made by Vector Unit.
Shine Runner is a android game where you control a fanboat and cause mayhem while collecting cash which can be invested in moonshine, tobacky, snake oil and other contraband.
The premise of Shine Runner is such that you are a hillbilly with a fanboat. You can use touch control, accelerometer, or a game pad to control the boat. While driving the boat your goal is to pick up the bags of cash you see on the water. There are two types of cash bags; the blue bag, and gold bag. The bags have different amounts of cash depending on what level you are on – the amount of money in each bag increases every level.
At the end of each level you have the opportunity to buy moonshine, tobacky, snake oil and other contraband. The object of the game is to buy low and sell high, and end up with the most money at the end.
Some standout features of this game are the physics. The way the boat rocks back and forth through the water, and the awesome destructible graphics. Everything on the level can be destroyed by crashing into it, from crocodiles, to other boats, and even shacks.
What I like about the game is that it is pure fun. You can get chased by the cops, knock other people off their boats, and cause chaos on the water. The graphics on the game are smooth, fluid, and very nice. There are multiple levels each having a different layout, and the time of day changes throughout the game.
The are some things I don’t like about the game though. There is no free mode, which you can just ride around and cause destruction. You are limited to 10 levels before you cash in all your money and contraband, and get your final score, and there is no free play option after that.
If there was a free play mode I would rate this game a 5/5 but for now I will rate it 4/5 and recommend it to anyone who likes basic android gaming.
