As many of us have noticed Twitter has been taken over in geek land by the news of the latest instalment of Angry Birds. So much to the site owners disgust (he’s already complained about twitter being spammed by posts concerning the beloved little birds!) I’m going to write a small review on the game so far.
With four sections to the game this seems to work in typical angry birds style; Pig Bang, Cold cuts, The danger Zone and Eggsteroids – Similar to the golden eggs you collect in the first game – difference being once the egg has been hit it takes you to another level within the level your already on.
Further to my previous post, the birds actually fare pretty well in zero gravity. There is now a feature so you can see where you are aiming the birds which does make the gameplay slightly easier apart from the obstacles surrounding the pigs are just as difficult. Good point to the levels is that if you fling your bird in the right place it then orbits the planet/asteroid/meteor the pigs are sat on which means if you miss it is no longer the end of the world! Not too mention all the Birds have very snazzy new space looks to them.
Red- The first bird you meet in all angry bird games. Your basic bird that flings in a striaghtish line, nothing interesting good for impact though.
Maching Bird- Is now called Lazer Bird and is now purple! Described as one of the fastest objects in the universe, now can choose his target more rather than just pressing the screen to increase speed.
The Blues- One blue bird that splits into 3 smaller, same power as before just a new look.
Ice Bird- A new character to the game, freezes any structure it touches solid, handy to smash wooden/stone blocks easier.
Bomb- Again same bird new look – still very effective.
Big Brother Bird- The incredible Terrance! What a name, same as the BIG red bird in previous games and does a lot of collateral damage.
And don’t forget the evil pigs. Same as before, still evil just in space this time.
These are the only birds encountered at the stage of gameplay I’m at and the only ones that have been named in the Angry Birds Space guide so unsure if there are more but the powers don’t seem 100% different or new as promised (apart from the newbies to the group!)
My opinion so far….. The game has been made interesting again! Angry birds seasons and Angry birds Rio were great but THE SAME! This version actually adds a new level of interest to the game, especially with a pretty cool comic sequence to start the game off. I think Rovio have found another great new hit.
The only downside to the game so far is that if you have downloaded the free version from the android market there are way more adverts then ever and I’m pretty certain they take up more of the screen. With a paid version not available currently this seems like something we are just going to have to put up with for the near future (unless of course you are a rooted droid user and have something like ad free installed!)
Check it out in the Play Store now!
