It seems a gaping hole has been discovered in Exynos*4* devices. Exynos devices include a host of Samsung handsets such as the Galaxy S3 and Galaxy Note 2.
The security hole is in the kernel, and basically gives R/W access to the full device via /dev/exynos-mem. To put things simply any app from the Play Store can get R/W access to your full device allowing malicious apps to attack without any special permisions. The exploit was discovered by XDA member alephzain, and you can find out more on his thread here.
The only plus side of the velnerability is how easy it is to obtain root on these devices, and an APK has already been released to take advantage of it by ChainfireXDA. The XDA thread to download the APK is here.
Hopefully Samsung act on this information quickly, and the a series of updates will be released to plug the mamoth hole.
