Awhile back ASUS promised, among other things, that they would be providing a way for the bootloader to be unlocked on the ASUS Transformer Prime. But as time has gone by, speculation has risen. Not to be deterred, ASUS has delivered on their promise and has made the official unlock tool available now.
The tool carries the typical warnings about your warranty being voided and the level of support from ASUS being reduced, but you knew that would be the “party line.” It also interestingly enough carries the version number of V6 and is only available for Prime’s running ICS as it is an Android application. Follow the below process to access the unlock tool.
- Access the ASUS Transformer Prime support website preferably from your TF201
- Select “Others” from the OS dropdown box
- Choose “Utilities”.
- The first option should be the Unlock Device App – if not, scroll down to find it
- Read through the legalese
- Select the location you would like to download from
- Install and bingo.
Or, you may alternatively download the APK from here (mirror here).
