So after Apple re-declaring war on Samsung yesterday – read more here – they are now re-declaring on HTC, in the US at least. Off the back of the alleged infringement on an Apple patent, Apple have asked the International Trade Commission to ban ALL of the Taiwanese manufacturer’s handsets.
The handsets that did manage to safely break it in the US including the most recent HTC Evo 4G LTE also look to be in trouble as Apple are also asking that any current HTC tablets and phones be pulled from sale as well.
Handsets include -
- HTC One X
- HTC One S
- HTC One V
- HTC EVO 4G LTE
- HTC EVO 4G
- HTC EVO Design 4G
- HTC EVO 3D
- HTC Sensation
- HTC Sensation 4G
- HTC Wildfire
- HTC Wildfire S
- HTC myTouch 4G
- HTC myTouch 4G Slide
- HTC Merge
- HTC Rezound
- HTC Rhyme
- HTC Inspire 4G
- HTC Vivid
- HTC Status
- HTC Hero
- HTC Hero S
- HTC Amaze 4G
- HTC Droid Incredible 4G LTE
- HTC Thunderbolt
- HTC Droid Incredible 2
- HTC Flyer
- HTC EVO View 4G
- HTC Jetstream
In response to the latest complaint HTC have said that “The U.S. Customs office has reviewed and approved HTC devices for import into the U.S. as they are in compliance with the ITC’s ruling.” HTC have very quickly actioned the changes necessary on the initial two phones that were banned, which supporters obviously appreciate. We will now have to wait and see what the ITC have to say about this latest claim as Apple seem to think the work around is still an infringement.
I personally think more time needs to be put into making the next iPhone so amazing that no one will consider one of these devices, but I’m sure this isn’t the last we’ll hear from Apple in what is turning into a desperate attempt to be top of the market.
