Today I am going to be reviewing, the not at all new twitter client, Twicca, since it doesn’t seem to have a review here yet, and it’s the only app I could not cope without being a Twitter addict.
Twicca is a very simplistic Twitter client for Android which gets the job done. It’s quick to load, quick to refresh. Quick to check mentions and Quick to tweet. Very quick. When someone tweets a picture using TwitPic, Imgur, YFrog or any other site to ever exist to store images, Twicca shows you the picture in a nice little popup on top of the app so you don’t have to leave it.
To reply, retweet or even quote a tweet you just need to tap it and select your required function in the pop-up menu. You can also get to the tweeter’s profile page from this menu, or block them if you feel the need to. Twicca also has support for plugins from the Android Market (or Google Play if you will).
Another great feature in Twicca is colour labeling, which adds a colour of your choice to the edge of a person’s tweets. This is useful to list people in a clearly viewable way. However, since their are only so many colours in the rainbow I find myself struggling to get a group for everyone to go in.
However, I do have a few minor criticisms towards Twicca. The optional white theme simply inverts everything, creating a rather ugly looking app in my opinion. It hasn’t been touched since the feature was added but I’m sure some people use it. The direct messages don’t show up in a conversational view like they do on the Twitter website, but instead list in the date of receiving no matter who sent them.
Due to the few problems I have with the app, I am going to give it a 9/10 since it does the job of a Twitter client much better than any other competition in the Market in my opinion. Go download it!
