A new app which has entered the market recently is Reddionic, a brand new ICS (but back compatible) Reddit App, for browsing the popular news, pictures and discussion website Reddit. The application feels quite nice, even though it’s just in beta! When you load it up for the first time, there is a nice and simple login process which the app has a “blocky” kind of style to it, which is a nice style, just a little unusual for Android apps. I suppose it makes it stand out from the crowd!
The app features a dashboard, which is a nice grey colour and includes my details down the bottom, so it’s a nice feature to have.
The logo is a very nice thought out one, as it stands out and the icon is good too, but as a bonus the icon fits inside the design guidelines! (cures my Icon OCD for this app!). Browsing the feed is nice too, with the usual pager controls which we see on ICS apps:
A unusual feature which is accessible via the Action Bar is the ability to load the sidebar into a popup box which is an added bonus which improves the experience! Next up is the post display screen:
This is nicely laid out and continues on the theming, which makes up for the lack of 100% features like what most developers concentrate on. A rather unusual thing is the bottom action bar when you select a comment, which seems a bit displaced. It might just be me, but I feel it should be attached to the comment like how these.
Also, you can view items in the built-in browser which is nice to have but I like using my own browser:
Conclusion:
Covers most of the basic Reddit needs without crashing and is a nice app! Loads to see in the future. A donate version is available, should you feel to pay the developer for this AD FREE (currently) application
