We all love to get some extra juice out of batteries which are trying to power our smart-devices, but inevitably the battery doesn’t last for weeks as we’d hope it would especially as most of us (including myself) are on our phones/devices most of the time. You’ll usually get rubbish adverts of apps like task killers that claim to “save your battery”, but as we know they are useless. JuideDefender is a lot different and a lot better, and we take it for a spin to see how well it performs.
The overall experience in purchasing and setting up Pro properly with shortcuts and the like are a little strange, and will generally require you restarting your launcher, as it does some trickery to change the app name and icon to the correct edition, but once it’s sorted you’ll be set to go.
The main interface is generally easy to use, so that won’t cause a problem for many but if you feel the urge to delve deeper and customize it to your exact liking, then that option is available. The only snag I have is that it pretty much requires a notification space so Android won’t kill it all the time.
There are also cases on JuiceDefender “loosing” settings, which seem to have died down and appears to be fixed. What’s interesting as well, as it talks a lot about the “AOSP Helper” which is a shame as some really useful features require this as Android has locked this away from user apps.
The application feels quite like a power-user tool and the interface pulls this idea into it, however I hope in the future it can be converted to have a more ICS look and feel to the application.
The amount of settings available on Advanced are all very useful, however I can’t explore how well they work on my current ROM, and some features are designed primarily for rooted/custom ROM users only. However, I’m sure if the developers were able to, they wouldn’t require this for everything.
I have used the app myself for quite a while now (a few months) and the battery life has increased quite a bit, especially considering my usage patterns.
Conclusion
Really great app as I’ve been using it a while and helps push the battery life further when I don’t need certain functions automatically. No crashes on me in my months of using the application
