Running on my One S and Xoom tablet Action Launcher ran very smoothly and super quick. It took a bit of time to find my way around but, that’s part of the fun for me. Reading how to do things spoils the fun. Although saying that the video is good to watch with Chris Lacy (The creator of this and Tweetlanes) running though the features was a help. With it still being in Beta expect one or two hiccups along the way although I suspect updates will be coming as soon as feedback is collated. Chris is always very good at updates
If you like to install custom launchers on your Android device then you will definitely appreciate Action Launcher Pro. Available now in the Play Store for (£2.59), the Action Launcher Pro is developed by the creator of the Tweet Lanes app, Chris Lacy. Designed to “get you where you need to go, faster” Chris believes that you can load any app in one second flat! Action Launcher Pro puts an action bar on top of the home-screen that stays there all the time so when you open it you will see all your installed apps with a A-to-Z alphabet down the right-hand side.
The UI and colour scheme used for this app falls in line with original Android 4.2 ROM’s design (Holo Theme). In addition to the action bar, the launcher app also features a sliding app drawer, which lets you access the apps installed on the device. This launcher, just like any other launcher makes it easier and faster to launch apps saving a lot of time.
Action Launcher Pro has a unique feature called “Covers”. What this feature does is to create a folder on any app’s icon, which can be accessed by tapping on its icon twice. So if you have created a cover for say, the Phone app then on single tap the Phone app will be opened but on double tap a folder will appear with apps you have added to it. To highlight the covers, Action Launcher Pro shows a translucent square on one side of it.
While there are several other launcher apps available in the Play Store for Android, Action Launcher Pro certainly brings something new to the table and is a nice addition to Android’s homescreen.

I found this to be a very good launcher, it’s so different from other launchers. It lacks features though like, changing the icons of an app, programming gestures, changing the grid size on the homescreen or putting icons on the desktop directly from the app list instead of opening up the customize page.
I am a little bit put out for paying for a beta version though. I would have thought it much better to release it free with (like other developers) limited features, then once out of beta add a paid pro version with all the features included. But in its present state I would give it 3.5/5. Looking forward to improvements.
