According to a recent article on the DigiTimes website, it would seem that Amazon are planning to release two new tablets as follow up’s for their highly popular Kindle Fire in the second half of 2012.
The plan is that there will be new 7 and 10 inch models released on the Kindle Fire range however with these in the works and them having “shipped 3.98 million Kindle Fire tablet PCs in the fourth quarter of 2011, taking up a 14% share of the global tablet PC market as well as the second position in the vendor rankings, according to market data”, is this a suggestion that the old school e-ink technology based e-readers are on the way out?
Another supporting comment on this theory is that Amazon have reportedly dropped order numbers of technology bought from EIH (E Ink Holdings).

What’s your thoughts? Is this a good strategy or in the words of a High School Musical song, should they stick to the stuff they know? (I have 10 and 4 year old daughters, don’t judge me).
