I wanted to merge both applications’ cores for various reasons, being the most important ones easier future development and better support for users and themers.
Also, because of all the new features and system changes from android 4.x, I had to rewrite lots of the code I had running (always trying to be backwards compatible downto android 1.6).
That, and the continuous effort to set all the new features “optional and configurable” is the most important part of my work.
I’ll be honest, for those on Android 4.0 and above, and especially if you’ve bought Nova Prime/Apex Pro, there’s not much that’s different here.
With that said, it’s good that there are options. That’s the beauty of Android. Don’t like something? There’s always an alternative. And I’m pretty sure this is great news to those still on Gingerbread and below.
I used ADW EX but found it wasn’t keeping pace with the “market leaders” Apex pro and Nova prime. For what it’s worth some of the reviews are poor. I wish the store listing laid out what’s new. It doesn’t say anything about new features. There’s a video but it goes so quick that you can’t really see what’s new. May give it another shot but I’m a Apex pro fan so not sure if it’s worth it.
