There are many patent battles going on just now but the only one I am interested in is the HASBRO vs ASUS patent battle.
What?
HASBRO vs ASUS?
Yep, HASBRO who own the rights to the Transformers brand have raised a lawsuit against ASUS claiming that the Transformer Prime name being used for their upcoming super tablet is way too close to the name of their very own Transformer Optimus Prime character.
How can ASUS win this one when they are up against names like the Incredible Hulk, Iron Man, My Potato Head, My Little Pony (eh?) and the whole Transformer gang?
On a serious not though, is this the reason why Google and Samsung stayed away from naming the Galaxy Nexus as the Nexus Prime and the reason LG have never released and Optimus Prime handset?
This could go a lot deaper though, I mean lets be honest, what is stopping Mars saying that the Galaxy branding is too close to their own chocolate branding?
This patent nonsense needs to stop before someone gets hurt!
