Recently we discussed the loss-of-service (LOS) issue affecting Sprint’s Samsung Galaxy S2 variant, the Epic 4G Touch. Well after almost 3 months of knowing about the bug, which effectively causes the device to lose it’s signal and only a reboot will fix it, Sprint has released an OTA to resolve the issue.
The release notes from the OTA state:
Release date 12/7/2011
Description of Enhancement/Fix
– 4G Sprint Hotspot disconnects when in a phone call
– Radio loses signal and may require power cycle
Developers at XDA have been working with a leaked version of the EK02 update for the last week, but this is the official update. Sprint states that the update will be pushed to 100% of the devices via OTA over the next 10 days. If you have rooted and installed a custom ROM, you’ll need to follow this guide to return to stock before checking for the OTA.
Let’s hope this resolves the LOS issue permanently.
