HTC has been attempting to bridge the gap between it’s corporate-lockdown mindset and the developer/user community in the form of offering up an easy way to unlock the bootloader on many of it’s more popular devices – and now it would seem they’ve added additional devices.
According to the HTCDev.com site, they’ve added the myTouch 4G Slide (T-Mobile) and the Evo View 4G (Sprint) to their list of supported devices. All you need do is go to their HTCDev.com Unlock Bootloader site, and choose “Begin Unlock Bootloader.” Click below the break for more information on this process.
But this process does not come without a few caveats:
- You create an account with HTC
- You agree to a nicely worded release stating, effectively, that you acknowledge that HTC can say any and all issues you have with your device can be blamed on the unlock bootloader process you’re about to undertake – regardless of if that is actually the case.
- You give them your information, including name, contact information and device-specific information
Now you can avoid all of this, and go directly to Revolutionary: S-OFF & Recovery Tool where they’ll root your device without all the red-tape. While they currently don’t support the HTC Evo View 4G, help is on the way.
