Im sure all of you android fans will be familiar with the standard power control widget that comes with android as stock, although it is very useful at times it has its limitations. As it cannot be customised to the users needs. So what happens if you want more toggles? Well you go for a third party app in this case Extended Controls available in free and paid version from the android market.
Extended Controls gives you many advantages over the stock power control widget, first off you can choose what size you want for a 1×1 configuration to a 1×4 configuration depending on how many toggles you wish to place in the widget. Once you have chose the size you want you can customise it to your hearts content, it comes with over 30 toggles for you to choose from which is great for any user. You may find that not all toggles work for you as i had trouble with a few of the toggles for example the flashlight toggle would not work at all for me on the Lg Optimus 2x yet it worked on the good old HTC Wildfire, so it can be luck of the draw when it comes down to compatibility on devices.
The widgets themselves look great, as you can choose the color of the widget background and it transparency along with icon packs available for the toggles to fit the style you are looking for. As for the toggle indicators there are multiple styles for them too. The customisation is great, your widget will never look the same as your friends and there is an opportunity for colour coordination to match the flavour of android you are using or even to match a theme you maybe using.
In short Extended Controls is a great widget for those of us who love customisation and the use of different size widgets to fill your homescreens up. There are many other apps that offer similar features but Extended Controls offers the best features in the rage of apps available. Aswell as the toggles with Extended controls you are offered a clock widget that can be changed size and colour to fit your needs alongside another bonus widget that shows you system information clearly that looks even better on honeycomb.
If this sounds like your kind of app then i suggest you check it out on the android market and if you really love it support the developer.
