The Dell Streak 7 was originally released before honeycomb came along so it never saw the tablet optimized OS until IFA. A couple of Dell Streak Tablets were shown off by, Erik Day and they had honeycomb 3.2.
The reason why this took so long is honeycomb did not support such a low sized tablet and was made for tablets 10 inches such as the galaxy tab, or Xoom. With this update we can expect a much more user-friendly UI and better speed. It will be mostly stock android with very little custom skin.
The update is planned to be released for the Wi-Fi only version of the tablet. Dell didn’t speak of an actual release date for the anticipated update, but the rumors still suggest sometime in the middle of September.
